Schillerwitzer Elbe Dixie Festival

It has become a beautiful day! It was so nice to meet all these people that came especially to see the Oakcity Jazzband. Ingrid and Lutz surprised us with a bag full of special beers, Andreas Wellhausen was ready again to film all the stuff, we celebrated the 7-years marriage anniversary with Carmen and Joachim and seeing Antje and Steffen again became a real afterparty! Photo's are from Pitty, Jens and Antje and Andreas' video's are already shining on YouTube. Click here to watch the album.

Coincidence?

Antoine & Micheline from the Lazy River Jazzclub Gent (B) sent us an e-mail that, during their stay in New Orleans, they were invited at a party at Tim & Juliet Laughlin's apartment. With amazement they saw that the Oakcity Christmas card was pinned against the wall. "A really great moment, so far away from home", they write, and that every-one was so excited about the Oakcity Jazzband.

Queens Day in Sittard (NL)

Next monday we will parade in Sittard in the afternoon, because of Queens Day. It's almost a tradition for us, and in fine weather it will be pleasantly crowded. Click here to some photos of last year.

Fanmail from Hamburg (D)

Getting real letters by post is fun! The thought that the person on the other side takes time to send you something, is very pleasant! We've got fanmail from Arnold Meyer, Hamburg Germany, who wrote that we were sparkling again with 2 photo's in the program magazine of the IDF Dresden 2012. He sent us a copy of that page. We hope to see Arnold at the schlemmermarket in Wassenberg (D), or next year at the 43th IDF in Dresden!

Schillerwitzer Elbe Dixie

This is how they present us in Dresden!

Oakcity Jazzband (Maaseik, Belgium)

This Belgian band, formed in 1995, gave herself - according to her hometown of Maaseik - the name "Oakcity jazz band." Through its broad repertoire one is surprised, and they play with great devotion and unusual arrangements from swing to blues to Dixieland.

Special trademark of the band, best performing in street parades, are trilingual texts in French, German and English and their direct dealings with the public. At her performance to the Elbe-Dixie in 2009, they became very quickly darling of the public.
